ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ to hold hurricane relief drive Saturday

The university will be collecting relief items at Saturday's home football game in Rhodes Stadium and volleyball match in Schar Center.

The ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Department of Athletics will hold a hurricane relief drive Saturday as the Phoenix hosts the University of New Hampshire for football and Campbell for volleyball on campus. All individuals donating an item will receive a free ticket to the game.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ will be accepting the following items at both home events Saturday to assist those affected by Hurricane Helene in western North Carolina.

  • Nonperishable food items such as canned or dry goods
  • Household cleaning items such as disinfecting wipes and all-purpose cleaners
  • Bottled water
  • Hygiene kits – shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant
  • Baby supplies
  • Blankets

In order to get a complimentary ticket to the football game, fans must drop off items at the main Rhodes Stadium entrance by the Bell Tower. Look for signs directing drop-off location. For the volleyball match, items can be dropped off at the main entrance at Schar Center.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Athletics is coordinating distribution with both the Burlington Fire Department and local charity organizations to distribute to those in need.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ football hosts New Hampshire Saturday at 2 p.m. at Rhodes Stadium. ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ volleyball will host Campbell Saturday night at 7 p.m. inside Schar Center.
