Students, faculty and staff are invited to take part in this dialogue on Monday, Feb. 28 at 4:30 p.m. in Lakeside 212

As a part of the Active Citizen Series, the Kernodle Center for Civic Life, ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Votes!, Council on Civic Engagement and ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Political Engagement Work Group will host the “Deliberative Dialogue – Back to Work: How Should We Rebuild Our Economy” event on Monday, Feb. 28 at 4:30 p.m. at Lakeside 212.

The pandemic swiftly brought the nation’s economy to a near standstill in 2020. Just as an earthquake reveals flaws in a building, the pandemic and the shutdown brought to light hidden truths in our economy – How tenuously many small businesses cling to survival; how many of the people doing essential jobs are women and people of color; and how much the country relies on other nations for vital products and services. Moving forward, what changes should be made in the way we live and work?

A Deliberative Dialogue is an opportunity for students to gather and exchange diverse views and experiences to seek a shared understanding of a challenge facing our society and to search for common ground for action.

This event is limited to the first 70 students who register and .

The Active Citizen Series is designed to cultivate the next generation of informed leaders who will help strengthen communities and shape our democracy. This series allows students to gain a deeper understanding of how government works and to develop the necessary skills to engage in civil discourse across political divides.
