Wisdom from an Ƶ Law leader

“One does one's best work where one is really engaged and committed.” Dean Emeritus George R. Johnson, Jr. praised Ƶ Law students and graduates while reflecting on his contributions to legal education in a video conversation recorded weeks before his passing.

As a young man, George R. Johnson, Jr. eyed the law and the pulpit as possible careers. That is, until his bride-to-be told him she wasn’t marrying a preacher.

Johnson, an Ƶ Law dean emeritus and professor who passed away from a prolonged illness on November 15, shared stories and encouragement for aspiring attorneys when he sat down with Professor Catherine Dunham in a conversation intended to be published as part of Ƶ Law’s recognition of his retirement at the end of the academic year.

Ƶ Law is sharing the video now in celebration of Johnson’s illustrious life and legacy to the university, the community, and the legal profession. A condensed transcript will be published in a forthcoming Ƶ Law Alumni News Bulletin.

These are his closing arguments.
