An April 17 article on how universities are providing comprehensive wireless internet connectivity featured the efforts of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ. 

The article by reporter Lindsay McKenzie titled “At What Cost Wi-Fi?” focused on the challenges that campuses are facing as they seek to provide reliable campuswide Wi-Fi coverage as students, faculty and staff increasingly rely upon internet-connected devices. 

“We used to hand out a thousand ethernet cables each year; now students don’t need them,” Christopher Waters, assistant vice president for technology and chief information officer at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ, told the publication. 

Waters noted that ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ has created two Wi-Fi networks — one that focuses primarily on devices such as mobile phones and printers and another that is solely for smart devices and gaming consoles. 

“When students come to campus, particularly at private institutions, they expect Wi-Fi to be ubiquitous,” Waters told Inside Higher Ed.
