ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Academy College Planning Team: Jenni Johnson, John Pickett, Princess KingThe ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Academy College Planning team ventured to the Southern Association for College ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Counselors annual conference in Miami, FL April 9- April 13. The team presented on challenges and success in supporting underrepsented students. In a session entitled “Sealing the Deal, Supporting Underrepresented Students in Accessing College,” John Pickett, Jennifer Johnson, and Princess King shared successes, challenges, and resources experienced by the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Academy over the previous 10 years. This session allowed attendees to share common experiences and resources in successfully supporting this population, and was attended by admissions professionals, individuals from community based organizations, as well as collaborating higher education advocates.
