Women’s Club Soccer defeats Davidson, UNC to extend undefeated record

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Women’s Club Soccer Defeated Davidson 2-0 on Oct. 18 with strong play by Katey Helwick who scored both goals. On Oct. 25, ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ defeated UNC-Chapel Hill 1-0 to continue their undefeated record of 2-0-3.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Women’s Club Soccer took on Davidson College on Oct. 18. Both teams battled in the first half but forward Kate Helwick received a great cross from Sophia Dirocco and she scored the teams first goal.

In the second half, center midfielder Mikayla Shaw sent a beautiful ball to Helwick who again scored, giving ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ a 2-0 lead. Davidson fought back hard but ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ’s defense was strong and the game ended with ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ winning 2-0.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ then took on UNC-Chapel Hill on Oct. 25. This was a hard-fought game with both teams playing well. Early in the first half midfielder, Alley Phillips sent a pass up the line to forward Kat Black, who scored giving ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ an early 1-0 lead. UNC fought back but ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ held off the Tar Heels for a 1-0 victory, which added to their undefeated record of 2-0-3.
