Women’s Club Lacrosse wins championship of Yosef Classic Tournament

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Women’s Club Lacrosse participated in the Yosef Classic Tournament held at Appalachian State University from Oct. 24-25, playing against ECU, UNCC and ASC.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Women’s Club Lacrosse came into the Yosef Classic Tournament losing the first game to ECU 10-9. They came back strong in the second game against UNCC with a 17-6 win.

The team continued to win 6-3 and then 6-2 both against ASU. Those wins brought them to the championship game vs. ECU. ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ’s women fought strong against a tough opponent but were still down 10-9 with one minute left. The attack and midfielders worked together to put one more goal in the back of the net to tie.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ’s defense then proved strong enough to stop ECU from scoring, which led to a brave heart overtime. This is where one player from each team goes against each other and the first to score wins. Meghan Dyer was selected as ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ’s one player. She won the draw and sprinted to the cage. She shot and scored the winning goal. ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ was the champions of the tournament, leaving with a record of 4-1.
