ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ School of Law is pleased to announce the inaugural issue of the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Business Law Journal. The new online journal will publish content about current and significant developments in business law.
The first issue of the includes perspectives on U.S. trade with Cuba, confidentiality agreements, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and international business.
“In an effort to match the ever-changing nature of business law, the journal will release articles periodically through a modern online format, giving readers a user-friendly source to keep up to date on present-day changes affecting the business law community,” said ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law student Timothy Prosky, editor-in-chief of the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Business Law Journal. “I am excited to be part of an innovative law journal that is focused on delivering high quality articles relating to the most prevalent and pressing business law issues.”
“I believe that the online format of the journal will provide the ability to respond and react to events that are affecting businesses today, rather than reacting to changes that occurred six months ago,” said Donald Dancer, distinguished practitioner in residence and advisory board member at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law, and former General Counsel for three international corporations.
The ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Business Law Journal accepts articles from a variety of authors, including practitioners, scholars and law students. The authors of the first two articles published by the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Business Law Journal are attorney Kristin Biedinger of Tucker Arensberg, P.C. in Pittsburgh, Pa. (writing on ), and attorneys Reid Whitten and Fatema Merchant of Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP (writing on . Whitten and Merchant are located in their firm’s Brussels, Belgium and Washington, D.C. offices, respectively. John Fukunaga, executive vice president, corporate legal department, and deputy general counsel at Sony Pictures Entertainment, provides in an interview with the journal’s editor-in chief.
The ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Business Law Journal is led by an editorial staff of current ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law students including Prosky as editor-in-chief; Chad Archer, managing editor; Timothy Dugan, senior article editor; Brian Korman, article editor; Laura Sloane, article editor; and Matthew Millisor, article editor. Several of the editors are Business Law Fellows at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law. Business law scholars Andy Haile, associate dean for academic affairs, and Thomas Molony, associate professor of law, are the faculty advisors for the journal.
