“ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law’s innovative and accomplished alumni continue to be driving forces in the emergence of our law school as a hub of legal networks and a partner to legal, business and public service communities,” Bierman said. “Gwendolyn Lewis is deeply committed not only to the individual success of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law graduates, but also to the rise of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law’s alumni community as one of the nation’s most collaborative, supportive and visionary alumni bodies.”

Prior to joining ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law, Lewis L’13 practiced law as an attorney with the law firm Gray Newell, LLP. She serves as an executive member of the Greensboro Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Section and as a member of the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law Alumni Counsel.

“ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law alumni are excelling as attorneys in regional, national and international law firms, government and nonprofit law offices, as well as in roles such as business executives, consultants and in-house corporate counsel,” Lewis said. “The alumni of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law are serving and leading in civic and philanthropic arenas, as well as in local, state and national bar associations. I’m so proud to be a part of the remarkable ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law alumni community and to take on this leadership role. My continued motivation will be to enrich the law school’s services for alumni and our capacity to work together for the betterment of all our members, our law school, our profession and our larger society.”

Upon her graduation from ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law, Lewis received the 2013 North Carolina Advocates for Justice Student Advocacy Award, the North Carolina Bar Association Certificate of Achievement for Pro Bono work and the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ School of Law Distinguished Service Award. She was also inducted into the National Order of Barristers.

Lewis earned her undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from North Carolina A&T State University in 2009, with a major in Criminal Justice and a concentration in Spanish. During law school Lewis served in several leadership capacities, including: elections committee chair for all Student Bar Association elections; chair of Diversity Day, an annual event sponsored by the admissions department; internal coordinator and competitor with the Trial Advocacy Board; competitor with the Moot Court Board; and Student Bar Association president during her final year of law school.

Lewis was admitted to practice law in July 2013 and began private practice at Gray Newell, LLP.
