As ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ celebrates the 125th anniversary of its founding, a weeklong contest testing knowledge of university history continues today with a chance for students, faculty and staff to win prizes.
In honor of Founders Day 2014, which on March 11 marked ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ’s quasquicentennial, each day this week a new trivia question will be posted on E-Net before 10 a.m. with prizes that include gift cards to restaurants and other local food establishments.
WEDNESDAY’S QUESTION:
Why was the first scheduled home football game in Rhodes Stadium cancelled?
All ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ students, faculty and staff are welcome to submit one answer to eheiser@elon.edu, and at the end of each day, all correct answers will be pooled and a winner chosen at random. Answers may be submitted until 6 p.m.
A special College Coffee and tree planting Tuesday morning on Phi Beta Kappa Plaza featured ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ presidents J. Earl Danieley ’46, Fred Young and Leo M. Lambert, and a special ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ historical exhibit is now on display in the Isabella Cannon Room in the Center for the Arts
ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ established Founders Day to honor significant figures from its history and to commemorate the lives of administrators, faculty and trustees who impacted the growth of the institution.
