Cecil Worsley ’86 and his wife, JoAnna ’87, have issued the Worsley Family Match to promote former student-athlete giving during the month of October.

All gifts will benefit student-athlete scholarships. This will be the third and final year of the Worsley Match.
How It Works:
Make a donation during the month of October to the or to a specific ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ athletic program. Any donation of $50 or more that is given to the Phoenix Club by a former student-athlete will be matched 2-to-1, and it will also make the individual a Phoenix Club member at the Ember level ($100) for the 2013-2014 fiscal year.
Additionally, all former student-athletes who give during the Worsley Match will receive the Phoenix Club priority points for the net gift (your gift + matching gift). So, if you give $100, and the Worsley family matches that with $200, you would receive 3 priority points for your net $300 gift.
The Payoff:
The Worsleys will match any donation 2-to-1, up to $50,000, during the month of October. When a student-athlete gives $50 to the Phoenix Club in October, the Worsleys will give $100. Give $500 and the Worsleys will give $1,000.
The Goal:
The goal is to have 400 gifts, raising a total of $25,000, from former student-athletes during the month of October.
Support Your Program:
In addition to the match, there will also be a Budget Bonus Challenge throughout the entire 2013-2014 fiscal year. At the end of May, the sport with the highest percentage of alumni giving will receive a $5,000 budget bonus for the program.
Postcards will be sent to all former student-athletes with information about the Worsley Family Match, which begins Oct. 1. All former student-athletes are invited to join us at the Letterwinner’s Lounge in the Walker Room in the Alumni Field House on Oct. 19, 2013, during the Chattanooga game from 1:30 p.m. through halftime.
There will be weekly updates via the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Phoenix Club Facebook page and the Twitter account @elonphoenixclub to keep all donors updated on the program’s progress.
A former member of the golf team, Cecil Worsley has been a loyal supporter of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ athletics for many years. In September 2009, ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ dedicated the W. Cecil Worsley III Golf Training Center on South Campus, funded through a generous gift from the Worsley family. The facility serves as the headquarters for both the men’s and women’s golf programs and includes an indoor practice area with hitting bays and a computerized swing analysis center as well as a putting area and players’ lounge.
The Worsleys are members of the Phoenix Club IMPACT Circle and The ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Society Founder’s Circle. Their son, Cecil Worsley IV, will be graduating this year from the university.
