Music Faculty Perform at Benefit Concert in Greensboro

Gerald Knight, assistant professor of music, coordinator of Music Education, voice instructor and director of University Chorale; Omri Shimron, assistant professor of music theory and piano; and Virginia Novine-Whittaker, adjunct saxophone instructor and Ƶ Music Ambassadors leader, performed a benefit concert in Greensboro, N.C. on Saturday, April 21.

The concert took place at the home of Cindy and Fred Proctor, the hosts of a “Friends & Forks” dinner, supporting Music for a Great Space, a longstanding concert series in Greensboro. Music for a Great Space focuses on chamber music and solo acts by local and international classical musicians. Joining the Ƶ musicians was Mr. Craig Whittaker on alto saxophone. The program included works by Bowers, Burleigh, Gershwin, Owens, Oscar Peterson, Ravel and Telemann.
