Beta Alpha Psi Chapter and Students Recognized at National Event

Members of the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, a national honorary organization for students in accounting, finance, and information systems, recently participated in the organization’s annual meeting, held August 5-7 in San Jose, California. The ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Chapter was recognized as a Superior Chapter. ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ was also one of the host chapters for the event.

Students Dan Shulman, Patrick Campbell, Alex Dempsey and Stephen Jones made a presentation about the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Meet & Greet Accounting and Finance event. This event is held each fall semester and provides an opportunity for students and employers to network for internships and job placements.

Jennifer Kirts, president of the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ chapter, participated in the “Project Run With It” competition. Of the roughly 900 attendees at the conference, 60 were selected to participate in the event following an application
process. Three winning teams were selected. Jennifer’s team placed first. This win made it the second year in a row that a student from ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ has participated on the winning team. Sponsored by Moss Adams, LLP, “Project Run With It” participants have approximately one day to prepare a solution to a business problem for an actual not-for-profit (NFP) agency.

The chapter advisor is accounting professor Patty Cox.
