Planning Week kicks off with sessions on ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ’s next strategic plan

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ President Leo M. Lambert used his annual “State of the University” address on Monday to share details of the university’s draft strategic plan that was developed over the summer. Lambert said that many in the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ community believe that the university has “a special destiny” to make important contributions to the landscape of American higher education.
Jessica Gisclair Named Associate Department Chair in School of Communications

Associate professor Jessica Gisclair was named the School of Communications' new associate department chair this summer to help accommodate the increasing number of faculty and students in the school.
Alan White and Hope Williams receive ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Medallions

Alan White, who had a 35-year career leading ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ athletics, and A. Hope Williams, president of the North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities, received ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Medallions at the Aug. 24 ceremonies marking the beginning of 2009 Planning Week.
Kathy Matera named to A.L. Hook science and mathematics professorship

Kathryn Mansfield Matera, associate professor of chemistry, has been selected as the third recipient of the A.L. Hook Emerging Scholar Professorship in Science and Mathematics at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ. The professorship provides funding and opportunities for faculty to mentor students and involve undergraduates in research and special projects.
