Members of the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Parents Council gathered on campus for their spring meeting April 3-4, considering a full agenda of items related to the university's operation and its future.

Council members heard an update from President Leo M. Lambert, who covered highlights of the spring semester and current important topics facing the university. Susan Klopman, vice president for admissions and financial planning, updated parents on the challenging admissions picture for next fall and answered questions about the ways ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ is responding.
Parents Council members then took place in a planning exercise, formulating input for the committee that is drafting the university’s next strategic plan. Jim Piatt, vice president for university advancement, and Connie Book, planning committee member and associate dean of communications, updated Parents Council members on a community survey related to priorities for the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ 2020 planning effort. Parents were then asked to work in small groups to write headlines that envision ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ’s big accomplishments over the next decade.
Input from the Parents Council will be shared with the strategic planning committee, along with input from a variety of other campus constituencies. The goal is to develop a draft plan for the Board of Trustees to consider at its fall meeting.
