ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ alumni, parents and friends have made generous gifts to the Ever ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Campaign to support need-based scholarships for study abroad as well as engaged learning initiatives.
Wendy’s International Foundation made a $50,000 gift in honor of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ trustee Kerrii Brown Anderson ’79 to establish a scholarship in her name. Anderson is former CEO and chief financial officer at Wendy’s International. The foundation made the gift to honor Anderson’s commitment to Wendy’s International.
The Kerrii Brown Anderson Endowed Scholarship will assist female students with financial need, with preference given to students from North Carolina or Ohio.
Sharon Hill Price, of Cary, N.C., made a gift to establish the Emma Margaret Price Scholarship for International Study. The scholarship is named for her daughter, who will be a freshman at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ this fall. Price called ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ to make her gift the day her daughter received her acceptance letter from the university.
Price also made an additional gift to join The ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Society, the university’s premier annual giving recognition group. Price is founder of the Copernicus Group, which helps protect the rights and welfare of research subjects through review of clinical trials.
Lee and Larysa Gibson, of Cleveland, Ohio, made a $25,000 gift to endow the Meredith L. Gibson Scholarship for International Study in honor of their daughter, an ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ senior and business major. The scholarship will enable students with high financial need to pursue study abroad opportunities.
The Gibsons were impressed with the experience that Meredith had when she studied in Ghana and China, and wanted to make those opportunities available to additional students. The couple, who own and operate Gibson Machinery, are members of the Parents Council and The ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Society.
Tom Grathwohl, of Atlanta, made a gift to establish the Darcy Craig Grathwohl Memorial Scholarship for Study Abroad in memory of his wife. Darcy’s son, David, is an ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ junior and math major. Grathwohl is managing director of the technology group of G.E. Capital Solutions.
Samuel L. Burke ’89, of Berkeley Heights, N.J., made a gift to create the Samuel L. Burke Endowed Fund for Engaged Learning in Business. The fund will support accounting majors in active learning initiatives, including study abroad, on-campus study and internships. Burke is a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers, which made a matching gift to the university.
The accounting firm of Stout Stuart McGowen & King made a $20,000 unrestricted gift to support the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business, the new athletics field house and the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Academy, a university-run academic enrichment program for Alamance County high school students.
The university is grateful to these donors for their gifts to the $100 million Ever ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Campaign to build the endowment. For updates and additional information on the campaign, click on the link to the right.
