The ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Board of Trustees has passed a resolution thanking Leary Davis, founding dean emeritus of the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ School of Law, for his work in establishing the school. The resolution was passed at the board's annual fall meeting Oct. 10.

The board’s resolution is as follows:
Whereas, F. Leary Davis, one of North Carolina’s most experiencedand respected legal educators, is the founding dean of the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµUniversity School of Law; and
Whereas, Dean Davis, who is respected and admired for hisextraordinary contributions to the legal profession, is the only knownlawyer-educator to have founded two different schools of law; and
Whereas, Leary Davis, having led—for more than thirty years—effortsto improve legal education, is a true visionary, unafraid to challengetraditional methods of legal education; and
Whereas, Recognizing the importance of preparing future lawyers tobe society’s leaders and problem-solvers, Dean Davis promoted theconcept of the Lawyer-Leader, the hallmark of the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµSchool of Law; and
Whereas, Dean Davis, committed to bettering the legal profession,founded the National Institute to Enhance Leadership and Law Practice,a nationally recognized non-profit organization that researches trendsin the legal profession and elements of lawyer competence; and
Whereas, Dedicated to success and excellence, Dean Davis’s tirelessefforts led the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ School of Law to achieve provisionalaccreditation by the American Bar Association at the earliest possibledate; therefore be it
Resolved, That in recognition of his extraordinary contributions toÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ, the Board of Trustees expresses heartfelt thanks to F.Leary Davis for his dedicated service.
