RecycleMania 2008 results for Week 2

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ continues to show improvements in recycling over last year's levels as RecycleMania 2008,  a 10-week nationwide contest involving hundreds of colleges and universities, enters its third week.

Through Week 2, the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ has captured 18,240 pounds of recyclable materials, surpassing prior year figures by 4,060 pounds.  The most recent week weighed in with a total of 9,720 pounds (versus 8,090 pounds just a year ago).  In the plastic, aluminum and glass category, ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ grabbed 2,120 pounds (versus 1,720 pounds a year ago).

Although not a huge producer, paper is still being recycled at a higher rate with 1,980 pounds captured in Week 2 (versus 1,550 pounds last year).  Cardboard rounds it out with 5,620 pounds being saved from the landfill, versus 4,820 pounds just one year ago.
