The results are in for ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ during the first week of RecyleMania 2008, a 10-week competition taking part on campuses across the nation to reduce waste and raise awareness about recycling. Material recycled from the university increased by more than a ton over the first week of the competition last year.
Results are favorable for a first week, especially with it being a transition week. ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ recycled 8,520 lbs. of materials through week one, surpassing last year’s week one total by 2,430 pounds. This places ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ 93rd out of 174 reported entries for total weight volume captured in week one.
Per Capita Classic
Overall, ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ placed 80 out of the 146 reported entries nationwide with a 1.27 lb. per capita weight volume. In the state, ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ placed third out of six entries with UNC on top, followed by Duke, then ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ, N.C. State, Western Carolina and Eastern Carolina.
In the Southern Conference, ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ placed second out of the three entries, with Wofford on top and Western rounding it off.
