Artist Bryant Holsenbeck will lead Ƶ students in the installation of 20,000 recycled bottle caps to create “River,” an unusual and visually appealing display that will be featured at an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, Oct. 2 at the Ƶ West Gallery, located at 406 W. Haggard Avenue in Ƶ. The reception is free and open to the public.
“River” uses bottle caps of various colors to create a brilliantly colorful space that is evocative of rivers and shorelines. Holsenbeck, of Durham, N.C., uses a variety of everyday items in her work, including pencils, credit cards, broken records and chopsticks. She is a recipient of the N.C. Arts Council Fellowship and the Kathryn H. Wallace Grant for Artists in Community Service.
“River” will be on display through Oct. 29.
