The first issue of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ College Monthly, the first student publication, was published in June 1891. The college’s archived copy of this issue, along with many other pieces of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ’s history, were lost in the fire of January 1923.
Connie Keller, ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ’s technical services librarian and archivist, was surfing the Internet recently and noticed this first issue of the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ College Monthly was available for purchase on E-Bay. She placed a bid for the item, but soon learned that another person was also bidding for the same publication. Keller learned that the other bidder was Rev. J.C. Dollar, a 1972 ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ graduate, who wanted to buy the issue for the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ library. They ended their bidding war, Rev. Dollar purchased the document and donated it to the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ archives.
