McMichael, a Madison, N.C., textile executive, was the father of trustee Gail M. Drew and the recipient of an ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ honorary doctorate in 1999. The Dalton L. McMichael, Sr. Science Center is named in his honor.
He is survived by his wife, Hanne; daughter Gail Drew and her husband, Richard, Durham, N.C.; daughter Louise Miracle, Stoneville, N.C.; and daughter Flavel Godfrey and her husband, John, Jacksonville, Fla.; and a son, Dalton McMichael Jr. and his wife, Susan, Stoneville, N.C. Three of McMichael’s grandsons attended ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ.
Ray Funeral Home, 119 N. Market St., Madison, is handling arrangements. There will be a visitation at the funeral home beginning at 6:30 p.m., Sunday, July 29. The funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m., Monday, July 30 at Madison Presbyterian Church, 204 W. Decatur St., Madison.
