Common Reading selected for Fall 2003

The Common Reading committee has announced its selection for the Fall 2003 common reading. “Falling Leaves: The True Story of an Unwanted Chinese Daughter,” is written by Adeline Yen Mah, who was born in 1937 to a privileged Chinese family. She overcame cruelty and emotional abuse from her Eurasian stepmother, eventually becoming a physician and writer.

Yen Mah has accepted the Common Reading committee’s invitation to visit ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ in November, when she will speak to students, faculty and staff.

The committee is also accepting suggestions for the 2004 common reading. If you have a suggestion, send the author’s name and title of the book to Monica Parson, chair of the Common Reading committee, at mparson@elon.edu.
