Ƶ Television, Phoenix14News Win Videographer Awards

Ƶ Student Television’s “Phoenix14News” and two Ƶ Television productions have once again received acclaim from industry judges, this time in the form of four Videographer Awards of Distinction. The Award of Distinction is reserved for productions that “clearly exceed industry standards.”

“Phoenix14News” took home awards for its 2004 graphics and animation package, designed by P.J. Buckley and Scott Myrick, as well as a March 15 newscast that included exclusive PhoenixTeam Coverage of the Ƶ Board of Trustees’ decision to move forward with the School of Law initiative. This marks the fourth award “Phoenix14News” has won in the last two weeks and the show’s fifth award this year.

Ƶ Television was also honored with two Awards of Distinction. The first award was for a documentary titled, “The Shining Lights of Opuwo,” produced by Ƶ sociology professor Tom Arcaro and Ƶ Television video producer J. McMerty. The documentary, which focuses on the problem of AIDS and HIV in the African nation of Namibia, was made by possible by a grant from Project Pericles.

Ƶ Television’s “Touchdown Phoenix Football” also received recognition. “Touchdown” is produced during the fall football season and features highlights from each week’s Ƶ Phoenix game. The show aired on Ƶ Television and Comcast Sports South during the 2003 season.
