Stephen Ross, a 1973 alumnus, was elected mayor of Burlington in the Nov. 4 election.
Ross, a city council member, garnered 2,393 votes to defeat incumbent Joe Barbour, who finished with 1,299 votes.
A member of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ’s National Alumni Executive Board, Ross chairs the board’s development committee. His election platform calls for better cooperation between city government and the business community, and raising Burlington’s profile as a member of the Piedmont Triad region.
In Town of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ elections, Ron Klepcyk, the university’s direction of human resources, was re-elected to the Board of Aldermen. Klepcyk and fellow incumbents Lawrence Slade and Ed Swing ran unopposed in the election.
