Metzger, Common Ground Quintet in concert, Sept. 19

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ’s Artist-in-Residence and jazz vibraphonist Jon Metzger presents his most challenging work to date in a concert with the Common Ground Jazz Quintet at 8:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 19, in McCrary Theatre, located in the Center for the Arts on campus.

The concert features some of the finest jazz artists in the country including Phil Markowitz, piano; Jack Wilkins, sax; Carroll V. Dashiell, Jr., bass; and Tony Martucci, drums; along with a guest appearance by the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Percussion Ensemble. The quintet will play selections from their new CD, “Common Ground,” produced by ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ’s entrepreneurship students under the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ ImproVibes label. Admission is free and open to the public. The group will host a release party and CD signing in the Isabella Cannon Room following the performance. Copies of “Common Ground” will be on sale for $15 at the party.
