One thing people should know about our community is that we are small, but mighty.
Latoya Slade, a first-generation college graduate, grew up in ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ and is a long-time member of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ First Baptist Church. Her father, Lawrence Slade, has inspired her through his community service and leadership, and she serves her church in various creative roles.
Growing up, faith was at the center of Slade’s world and she still feels immense gratitude for and connection with her faith. Even in times of strife and division, she continues to persevere and show hope for the future. She is proof that it doesn’t matter if you come from a small community; you can always make a big difference.
